This year my sister and her family decided to go to Colorado the same time as us. We had such a great time!
1st we went to Ft Collins to see my Aunt and Uncle. It's always good to see them and they arranged to have my cousin and her son come too.
The next day we drove up to check into our cabins and this is who greeted us. The turkeys were thick this year. I think we saw at least half a dozen everyday.
After we unpacked and got things situated in the cabin we drove around the corner to Jerrod and Rashelle's camp site.
Tuesday we went to the Alluvial Fan. One of our favorite spots. If you've ever gotten a Christmas card from us, you've seen a couple of pictures of us there.
The kids love climbing on the big boulders.
My parents work at the cabins in the summer. So we not only had my sisters family with us, but we got to see my parents a lot too. On Wednesday my parents had a day off and so we all got to go on a hike together. We made it to the pool on the way to Fern Falls.
That afternoon the kids became Jr. Rangers. They even got badges.
In the evening we drove up old Fall River Road. We saw a lot of elk and a hand full of marmots.
I couldn't believe how close the animals were to the road. At one point, my dad was taking pictures when an elk stuck his head in the window. I told him if it were me setting there, I'd be over in the drivers seat. :)
On Thursday we went on our own to Mills Lake. It was a 5 mile round trip hike.
I like the way hiking together gives us an opportunity to grow as a family. We get to see the boys challenge and encourage each other and experience working together as a team.

It was great to experience the fun stuff you get to do camping and not have to sleep in a tent or go without showers.
We made Smores a couple of nights around Jerrod and Rashelle's campfire.
Here's Brent bringing in the empty bird feeder. It was so dry there, their weren't many wild flowers. The humming birds emptied 2 feeders a day, and I know they would have emptied more if we would have given them the chance.
