Henry spent every day last week at McConnell Air Force Base. The program is called STARBASE and it focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.. They would teach them about a subject and then take them out on the base to see what that looked like in the real world. They worked with Lego robots and then went to the bomb squad and got to see their bomb recovery robots. They learned about how air plane wings create lift and then went for a tour of the KC 135. He was able to design his own rocket nose cone on the computer and then use a 3D printer to create the actual part for the rocket he built. Henry was pretty excited to hear that I do the same thing at work to check new designs that I work on.
We just can't say enough good things about this program. The instructors are fantastic and Henry had a blast. We are so thankful for our friends that let us know about this. It was also a great way to get him introduced to the Air Force Base. We are already planting the seeds with our boys for joining the Air National Guard. Serve your country and pay for college, you can't beat it.

Such a great program! Henry and Jack are looking forward to going next summer.
